Ok, let’s talk about work-from-home setups!
Creating a productive work setup at home doesn’t have to be a Pinterest-worthy project or an excuse to spend money.
You can do it with what you already have—
and you can make it functional, comfy, and totally your vibe!
Here’s how to turn your home into productivity central without overthinking it (or overspending).
🏡 Pick Your Space Wisely
Step one: claim your territory.
It doesn’t have to be a whole room.
A corner, a nook, or even a little table by the couch can work.
The key? Keep it quiet and distraction-free.
Once you’ve found your spot, make it yours.
Put a little imaginary sign on it that says “Work Zone—No Netflix Allowed.”
Separating work from play helps your brain get into focus mode.
And, no, your bed is not an option!
☀️ Let the Light Shine
Natural light is your best friend.
Position your workspace near a window if you can.
Sunlight is like a productivity superpower—it wakes you up, boosts your mood, and makes you feel like you’ve got your life together.
No window? No problem.
A desk lamp or strategically placed mirror can work wonders.
Also, give your screen setup some love.
Stack books or even an old shoebox under your laptop to get it to eye level.
Your neck will thank you.
🧹 Keep the Chaos at Bay
Clutter is the enemy of focus.
So, keep only the stuff you need within arm’s reach!
Pens, notebooks, sticky notes, maybe a coffee mug that’s actually clean for once.
Get creative with what you already have.
Use mason jars, cereal boxes, or old containers to organize your space.
Bonus points if you can turn it into a quirky DIY project!
Who needs expensive organizers when you’ve got empty pasta sauce jars and some creativity?
🪑 Comfort is Key
Your workspace should feel good—like, really good.
Don’t have a fancy office chair? No problem.
Grab a pillow or cushion to make your seat feel like a throne.
Use another pillow behind your back for lumbar support.
Look at you, ergonomics expert.
If your feet don’t touch the ground comfortably (shoutout to all my short friends), stack some books or a sturdy box under them.
Comfort isn’t just a luxury—it’s a productivity hack.
🕒 Set Boundaries (And Stick to Them!)
We all know that one person who thinks “working from home” means “available for random chats all day.”
Let them know your work hours and enforce those boundaries.
Put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign if you have to—or just wear your most intense “I’m busy” face…
Routines are your secret weapon.
Start your day with a little ritual: make coffee, light a candle, do a quick stretch—whatever signals to your brain that it’s time to work.
And at the end of the day, pack up your workspace or write tomorrow’s to-do list to mentally “clock out.”
🔧 Tweak It As You Go
Your setup doesn’t have to be perfect on day one.
Try things out and adjust along the way.
Maybe your chair needs a little extra cushioning, or the light needs to be moved.
No biggie—flexibility is the name of the game.
Also, don’t be afraid to rearrange when things feel stale.
Sometimes just moving your desk to a new spot can refresh your focus and energy!
There you have it—a functional, comfortable, and distraction-free work spot, no extra spending required.
The goal isn’t to have the fanciest setup on Instagram—it’s to have a space that works for you.
I keep my desk ready for action, too. After all, it’s my little command center for getting things done!
And when I’m not at my desk, you’ll find me in my podcast studio.
Want to know what that looks like? I go over it in full detail over here.
